📖 How Terminal Hell works stats, cards, relics, bosses, and suffering explained

Goal

Clear six bosses in one run: HND, ITM, AMS, NRT, DXB, and the final boss FRA. If your HP or Sanity reaches zero, the run dies.

Turn flow

Each turn you get three random cards. Pick one card, it resolves, then the boss attacks. If the boss reaches zero HP, you choose one relic, visit the shop, then continue to the next airport.

Base ATK

Base ATK is your character's attack stat. Cards that say Hit: base ATK + 8 deal your current Base ATK plus 8 damage. That does not permanently raise ATK.

DEF

DEF reduces incoming HP damage from boss attacks. It does not reduce sanity damage or money loss.

Shield

Shield blocks HP damage before your HP is touched. After a normal turn, remaining shield decays, so it is useful but not permanent.

Sanity

Sanity is your second health bar. Some boss attacks target sanity instead of HP. If sanity hits zero, you lose even if HP is fine.

Money

Money fuels the shop. Some cards generate it, some bosses steal it, and you can spend it on one-time items or permanent upgrades between bosses.

Relics

Relics are free permanent run upgrades after each defeated boss. Shop upgrades are also permanent, but cost money because airport capitalism.

Characters

Potato snowballs shield and money through hotfixes. Kirby turns overhealing into shield. Lycaon hits hardest with First Strike. Osaka randomly spaces out of danger. Each character also has exclusive cards in the deck.

Card previews

The green This play: label on each card shows what that card will do right now, after current stats and buffs are applied. Rare Chaos cards and ultra-rare God cards can also appear when the airport gets extremely silly.

Boss intent

The boss intent box shows what the boss is about to do after your card resolves. Use it to decide whether to attack, shield, heal, or protect sanity.

Short version

Pick a character, press Start Run, play one card per turn, read the green previews, survive the boss intent, collect relics, buy airport nonsense, and bonk FRA into the sun.

    Boss 1

    HND

    The polite tutorial boss.

🛫 easy start ✨ clean vibes 🙂 low pain
    • HND still goes easy on you, but no longer completely sleepwalks through the fight.
    • Use this fight to gather money and avoid wasting items.
    • If you die here, the airport staff will apologize while judging you.

    Boss 2

    ITM

    The convenient Osaka friend.

    🏯 comfy 🍙 snack energy 🛡️ manageable
    • ITM is still friendly, but the damage curve starts becoming real here.
    • Shield and light healing are enough if your cards behave.
    • Perfect place to stock up before the annoying airports begin.

    Boss 3

    AMS

    Still good, slightly cursed.

🇳🇱 queues 🥪 money pain 🚶 long pier
    • AMS is fair, but it now punishes careless shieldless turns and starts draining resources.
    • Do not enter NRT broke unless you enjoy suffering as a hobby.
    • Good builds should be coming online around here.

    Boss 4

    NRT

    The year-long train boss.

🚄 train trauma 🌙 closed shops 🌀 sanity test
    • NRT is a proper mid-run wall now: sanity damage, money loss, and long-train despair.
    • Carry-on items are very useful here if the shops are closed in spirit.
    • If your sanity bar is low, do not greed damage too hard.

    Boss 5

    DXB

    Needs no introduction.

🚶 long walks 🌀 sanity damage 💸 money pain
    • DXB is the hard pre-final check: bigger, shinier, and spiritually exhausting.
    • Bring enough attack to end the fight before your sanity implodes.
    • Money cards and shop items can rescue a run that is falling apart.

    Final boss

    FRA

    Pure hell.

💥 huge hits 🧱 defense test ☠️ full suffering
    • FRA is the run check: if your build is weak, this is where it dies.
    • Stacked relics, permanent shop upgrades, and good burst damage are your friends.
    • If you win here, you have escaped Terminal Hell with honor.
